The Glory of the Lord on This Building
Sometimes God is building far more in us than we can yet see — strengthening foundations beneath the visible structure one step at a time.

Built by Grace — One Step at a Time
There is something humbling about watching a building slowly come together.
The learning.
The planning.
The corrections.
The waiting.
The unexpected changes.
The delays.
The adjustments.
The pieces that must be measured carefully before they are secured into place.
And honestly, life with God can sometimes feel the same way.
There are seasons where we imagine everything moving quickly and smoothly.
But then reality comes:
delays,
interruptions,
changes,
corrections,
setbacks,
waiting,
and moments where things do not unfold the way we originally expected.
And yet, sometimes those very moments are part of what strengthens the structure.
God Builds With Purpose
While watching this building process unfold one step at a time, I found myself realizing something important:
God often builds patiently.
Not hurriedly.
Not carelessly.
Not randomly.
He builds intentionally.
And sometimes the structure underneath matters far more than the appearance we are trying to finish quickly.
Strong foundations take time.
Careful alignment matters.
Corrections matter.
And some things must be adjusted before they can properly support what is still coming later.
Strong Foundations Require Careful Alignment
Learning as we go is often one of the hardest parts of any building process.
With this building, there were many things I simply did not know yet.
I did not understand compaction tests.
I did not fully understand why they mattered.
At one point, I even considered not getting a permit.
But looking back now, I can clearly see:
what felt like a frustrating setback was actually protection.
Because without proper preparation beneath the surface, the entire foundation could eventually fail.
And honestly, that taught me something deeply spiritual.
We cannot simply move dirt, pour concrete, and expect everything to hold together long-term without a solid foundation underneath.
Strong structures require preparation.
They require patience.
They require correction.
And they require wisdom we do not always possess at the beginning.
Another huge lesson in this process was communication.
Not simply hearing what we assume someone means —
but slowing down enough to truly understand what is actually being communicated.
Location mattered.
Measurements mattered.
Alignment mattered.
The building had to be pinned more than once.
And one of the reasons was because measuring across a slope is not the same as measuring across level ground. As the tape measure travels downhill, it gains distance that does not truly exist in a straight-line footprint.
I did not know enough yet to ask all the right questions.
And at times, I was easily influenced by opinions outside the field of true expertise.
But even in that, God was teaching me:
discernment,
patience,
humility,
wisdom,
and the importance of careful foundations.
And honestly, one moment still stays deeply with me.
During the final pin placement, I could feel the presence of the Lord as I held my right foot in the place where I believed that rear corner pin should go.
To some, that may sound small.
But to me, it became faith.
And somehow, in that ordinary moment standing on unfinished ground, I truly believed:
God was guiding even this process one step at a time.
Delays Are Not Always Destruction
One of the hardest things for people to accept is that delays do not always mean failure.
Sometimes delays are protection.
Sometimes corrections prevent future problems.
Sometimes rebuilding creates stronger foundations than what originally existed.
And sometimes God allows us to slow down long enough to learn:
patience,
endurance,
humility,
wisdom,
discernment,
and trust.
The Bible says:
“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it…" — Psalm 127:1
That Scripture feels very different when you have lived through seasons where things did not go according to your original plans.
Because eventually we realize:
we are not simply building for appearance.
We are building for stability.
God Often Builds Us While We Are Building Life
Sometimes we think the project itself is the lesson.
But often, God is building something inside us at the same time.
Faith grows during waiting.
Character grows during pressure.
Wisdom grows during corrections.
Patience grows during unfinished seasons.
And surrender grows every time we trust God enough to continue one step at a time without needing to control the entire outcome.
One Step at a Time
There have been many moments in life where I wanted clarity faster than God seemed willing to give it.
But looking back, I can now see:
God was never absent from the process.
He was teaching me to walk differently.
More prayerfully.
More patiently.
More faithfully.
More surrendered.
Not because God delights in struggle —
but because strong structures require deeper foundations.
And honestly, some of the greatest spiritual growth happens during the seasons that still look unfinished.
Built by Grace
The Bible says:
“But by the grace of God I am what I am…”— 1 Corinthians 15:10
Grace does not merely save us.
Grace sustains us.
Grace teaches us to continue.
Grace strengthens us during long processes.
Grace reminds us that God is still working even when life feels incomplete.
And maybe that is important for someone to remember today:
Just because the structure is still unfinished does not mean God has stopped building.
Sometimes He is strengthening what cannot yet be fully seen.
One step at a time.
