Peace is not the absence of trouble… it is where we stand in Christ. (Romans 5:1–3)

Finding Hope for Today in Troubled Waters
If you’re looking for hope for today…
If you’re searching for hope for today…
I want you to know—true hope is found in Christ,
and it begins right where you are.
📖 Scripture Focus
Romans 5:1–3 (KJV)
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ… And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience.”
I am still learning this.
This is not something I have mastered—
this is something I am walking through, right now, in real time.
I don’t believe I am weak…
but I do know that without Him—I am.
And yet the truth is this:
“Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.”
(1 John 4:4)
There is a difference between weakness without Christ
and surrender in Christ.
Because in Him—
what feels like weakness becomes strength.
What I am seeing more clearly now is this:
Peace is not the absence of trouble.
Peace is our position with God—through grace and truth in Jesus Christ.
The world around us is not at peace.
Not because people are bad—
but because people are trying to survive without knowing Jesus.
The world teaches:
protect yourself
hide what costs you
shift blame when needed
do what keeps you safe
And if I’m honest…
I have done the same in my younger years—
before I knew any better.
Before I knew Him more.
But Jesus is the Light of the world.
And when we come to know and believe in the love God has for us—
we begin to see differently.
We begin to live differently.
The Bible says:
“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you…”
(1 Peter 4:12)
So this should not shock us.
But it still does.
Because it’s hard.
These troubled waters—they don’t just come at us…
they try to come in us.
But we have a choice.
We may not be able to stop what comes at us—
but we can choose what we allow to live in us.
And this is where the Word becomes real:
“Let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire,
wanting nothing.”
(James 1:4)
Patience is not waiting for things to change.
Patience is what God is doing in us while we wait.
It is the work of:
healing
revealing
strengthening
setting us free
And I am here to say this honestly:
It is hard.
Really hard.
But the victory is not something we are trying to win.
The victory is already won in Christ Jesus.
So what is our part?
To keep our peace.
To stand in what He has already given us.
To trust what He is revealing.
To allow Him to show us our own heart—not to condemn us…
but to heal us.
This is what I am learning:
Encourage means to put courage in.
And that is exactly what the Lord does.
He puts courage in us—through His Spirit—
so we can stand in truth.
The world discourages.
It brings:
fear
confusion
complication
doubt
But the Spirit of God does the opposite.
He brings:
clarity
truth
peace
courage
So if you are in troubled waters today—
this is for you.
And this is for me.
You are not far from freedom.
You may be one step away
from knowing Jesus more deeply than you ever have before.
And that step?
It may not look big.
It may simply be:
holding your peace
while He does the work.
