Peace Is Your Position — Standing in Troubled Waters
This teaching shares how God meets us in real-life trials, teaching us to stand in peace through Jesus Christ, even in the middle of troubled waters.
Before We Begin
This is not something I have fully figured out.
This is something I am walking through right now.
What I am sharing is not from a place of having arrived—
but from a place of learning, seeing, and growing as the Lord reveals truth in real time.
And what I am seeing is changing everything.
Scripture Focus
Romans 5:1–3 (KJV)
“Therefore being justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand…
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation
worketh patience.”
What Peace Really Is
Peace is not something we create.
Peace is not something we find when everything finally settles down.
Peace is something we are given through Jesus Christ.
We have peace with God.
That means peace is not based on:
circumstances
people
outcomes
understanding everything
Peace is based on our position in Christ.
Standing in Grace
Romans says we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand.
That means we are not standing in:
fear
confusion
control
self-protection
We are standing in grace.
Even when things feel messy.
Even when things don’t make sense.
We are still standing in grace.
When the Waters Are Troubled
I am walking through a situation right now that has stirred more in my heart than I expected.
And if I’m honest—it’s hard.
Really hard.
But what I am seeing is this:
The trouble is not just happening around me—
it is revealing something within me.
What God Is Doing in the Middle of It
The Bible says:
Tribulation worketh patience.
That means pressure is not wasted.
God is using it to:
slow us down
reveal our heart
grow endurance
deepen our trust
This is not comfortable.
But it is purposeful.
Strength in Weakness
I don’t believe I am weak…
But I am learning just how weak I am without Him.
And yet:
“Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.”
(1 John 4:4)
That changes everything.
Because what feels like weakness
becomes strength when it is surrendered to Christ.
The Difference
Between the World and Truth
The world operates from survival.
It teaches:
protect yourself
hide what costs you
shift blame
do what keeps you safe
And if I’m honest, I have lived that way before too—
when I didn’t know any better.
But Jesus is the Light of the world.
And when we begin to know Him—
we begin to live differently.
You Will Not Be Spared Trouble
The Word says:
“Think it not strange concerning the fiery trial…”
(1 Peter 4:12)
So this should not surprise us.
But it still does.
Because it touches real places in us.
The Choice We Have
We may not be able to stop what comes at us…
But we can choose what we allow to come in us.
Let Patience Do Its Work
“Let patience have her perfect work…”
(James 1:4)
Patience is not passive.
It is God actively working in us to:
heal
refine
strengthen
make us whole
The Victory Is Already Won
This is what anchors me:
The victory is not something I am trying to earn.
The victory is already won in Christ Jesus.
So What Is Our Part?
To stand.
To trust.
To allow God to reveal truth.
And most of all:
To keep our peace.
Heart Reflection
Peace is not the absence of trouble.
Peace is where we stand in Christ.
Even here.
Even now.
Even in the middle of troubled waters.
A Real Moment
I was tired… and you can probably see it.
But the victory was real too.
My prayer through all of this—
is that Jesus is seen.
Living in Today, Not for It
I am learning something else in this…
I am not living for today.
I am living in today.
But my hope is not here.
My hope is in eternity.
Every time I go outside, I say:
“Thank You, Lord, for this day.”
And I mean it.
There are moments where I wish I could just stay there longer…
But I come back in to write, to share, to serve—
because I know there is more.
There Is More
“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
(Psalm 118:24)
And also:
“Exhort one another daily, while it is called To day…”
(Hebrews 3:13)
There is something happening in today.
But there is something greater still:
“This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
(John 17:3)
This life is not all there is.
What we experience here are glimpses.
And those glimpses are worth everything.
