Letting the Word of God Work in My Heart — Come Ride with Me

Letting God’s Word Work in My Heart
Come ride with me awhile.
I recorded this conversation in September and kept it private for a while. Listening again, I wanted to share what I was learning about my words, my responses, and the meditation of my heart.
“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.”
— Psalm 19:14, KJV
There was work happening at home—moving dirt, building, and watching my son teach a young man. I was grateful for what was getting done, but I found myself thinking even more about what the Lord was doing in my heart.
That is what this conversation is about.
What is behind the words we speak? When someone hurts us, are we bringing that hurt to the Lord? Are we seeking His help to forgive, pray, and respond in love? Are we willing to receive correction ourselves?
I’m asking those questions of myself, too.
In this nearly 24-minute drive, I share about gossip, forgiveness, repentance, grace, and learning to walk with Jesus in everyday situations. It is an informal conversation about lessons I am still learning.
A LITTLE CLARIFICATION AS I CONTINUE LEARNING
When I said I don’t really have an issue with gossip, I meant that I’m experiencing growth in this area. The Lord has helped me recognize things I didn’t previously understand were gossip. Being busy isn’t what changes my heart—He is. I haven’t arrived, but I’m becoming more aware of my words and motives as I diligently seek Him and learn to respond according to what is written.
When I spoke about justification, I meant that Jesus accomplished the work that makes our justification possible. We are justified by faith in Him (Romans 5:1). Each believer is a member of His body, and Jesus is the Head of the church (1 Corinthians 12:27; Colossians 1:18).
Also, forgiving someone does not mean we cannot remember what happened or still experience hurt. I was speaking about bringing that hurt to the Lord and asking Him to help us release bitterness, love others, and pray for them—with wisdom and appropriate boundaries.
Seeking wise counsel or help for abuse, criminal activity, or safety concerns is not gossip.
LET’S KEEP LEARNING TOGETHER
Letting God’s Word work in my heart means receiving His correction and learning to put what He says into practice. I’m grateful for the changes He is making in my life, and I still need His correction and grace.
As you listen, I invite you to open your Bible and bring your own heart before the Lord. Our situations may be different, but we can each ask Him to show us where we need His correction and help us walk in His truth.
Scriptures to read alongside this conversation:
• Psalm 19:14
• 2 Timothy 2:24–26
• Proverbs 16:28; 26:20
• Romans 5:1
• 1 Corinthians 12:27
• Colossians 1:18
• Galatians 5:22–25; 6:2–5
• Titus 2:11–12
Christ is the Teacher; I am a fellow learner.
Sharing with thanksgiving, in Jesus’ name.
