Day 4 – Stay With Him
Don’t Step Ahead of His Presence
You’ve taken the step.
You’ve moved in faith.
But now comes something just as important:
Staying close.
Because it’s possible to begin in faith—
and then drift into striving.
📖 Scripture Focus
“Abide in Me, and I in you…
for without Me you can do nothing.”
— John 15:5
Movement gets you started.
But abiding is what sustains you.
There is a difference between doing something for God—
and walking with Him in it.
When we move without staying connected,
we begin to rely on our own strength.
We try to maintain what God started.
We try to carry what He never asked us to hold.
And slowly, what began in peace
turns into pressure.
But Jesus never asked you to carry it alone.
He asked you to remain.
Staying with Him means:
Not rushing ahead.
Not forcing outcomes.
Not striving to prove anything.
It means walking at His pace,
resting in His presence,
and trusting Him to sustain what He began.
Sometimes after we take a step,
we feel the need to keep pushing.
To do more.
To fix more.
To figure everything out.
But God is not asking for more effort.
He’s asking for closeness.
Because fruit doesn’t come from striving—
it comes from staying connected to the Source.
I will not strive to sustain what God began.
I will stay close to Him.
His presence is enough.
His pace is enough.
Reflect & Respond
Have you been trying to maintain something God started?
Where have you felt pressure instead of peace?
What would it look like to slow down and stay with Him today?
Ask God to draw you back into His presence.
Prayer
Lord,
teach me to stay with You.
When I feel the pressure to strive,
remind me to return to Your presence.
Help me to trust that You will sustain
what You have started.
Keep my heart close to You.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
You don’t have to hold it all together.
You just have to stay with Him.
