Walking with Jesus, one step at a time.
A Heart Moment
What I thought I wanted
was not what I needed.
God was drawing me closer to Him.

Scripture:
“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that
the friendship of the world is enmity with God?
whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is
the enemy of God.”
— James 4:4
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”
— James 4:7–8
Every friendship shapes us.
To love the world’s ways is to drift from God.
Worldly friendship seeks pleasure, power, and
approval apart from Him.
But wisdom teaches us that this path
comes at the cost of intimacy with God.
True friendship is found in God Himself.
When we submit to Him,
resist the enemy,
and draw near,
He draws near to us.
This is not distant religion—
this is relationship.
The God who created all things
invites us into closeness with Him.
Wisdom from above calls us to choose
friendship with God
over the fleeting approval of the world.
This is not loss—
it is gain.
For in Him we find life,
peace, and joy that never fade.
A Moment to Remember
God does not draw near to us as a distant idea—
He draws near as One who wants to be known.
What began as belief
becomes relationship
when we choose to remain in Him.

Reflection
What is shaping my heart more right now—
the world, or my relationship with God?
Am I drawing near to Him daily,
or being pulled away by other desires?
Prayer
Lord, I choose You above the world.
Teach me to resist the pull of temptation
and to draw near to You daily.
Let my life be marked by friendship with You,
walking in love and truth all my days.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
