Heart Moment –
When God Taught Me Wisdom
This is where it began for me…
“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure

This is not something I learned all at once.
This is something God has been teaching me—
step by step.
This is where it began for me.
But it didn’t end here.
What God was teaching me about wisdom
became something I had to live—
one step at a time.
We went to a Christmas parade.
It was a good day. We had a wonderful time.
But on the way home, sitting in traffic, something happened.
A directing officer made a move that frustrated my husband.
And he reacted.
At that time, I had just begun learning about God’s love…
and the fruit of the Spirit.
And this was the moment God began teaching me something deeper:
There are two kinds of wisdom.
One that comes from below—
full of bitter envy and selfish ambition.
And one that comes from above—
pure.
First of all pure.
But I hadn’t learned that yet.
I only knew just enough about love
to start judging what wasn’t loving.
So when my husband spoke in a way that was not patient or kind…
I reacted.
Not from the Spirit of God—
but from my flesh.
What followed wasn’t just a disagreement.
It was a revealing.
Neither of us understood yet—
this was a test of our faith,
an opportunity to grow.
When we got home, I was angry.
Not just upset…
I wanted to stay mad.
Pride is a haughty thing.
My husband came to make things right.
And I refused him.
I sneered at him—
with no intention of forgiving him.
And then…
God stepped in.
I looked down and saw a handwritten note
I had written to myself:
“God’s wisdom is first of all pure and does not leave you double-minded
about wanting God’s help to change your mind.”
Immediately—
forgiveness came.
Not forced.
Not worked up.
It came.
My husband came back into the room…
and we embraced each other
with real forgiveness.
Like whatever had been there—
was gone.
To God be the glory.
Thank You, Jesus.
It was not to condemn me, but to change me.
“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable…” — James 3:17
There was another time.
We were both overwhelmed—
work, stress, and emotions rising.
And in that moment, I heard something clearly:
“I will give you all this… if you come and worship me.”
And I knew—
that was not God.
I remember thinking:
“Lord… what would I have without my family?”
That night, I left.
Drove to the lake.
Sat there in the quiet.
And then, at 2 a.m., I heard it again:
“Get up. Go home to your husband.”
I said,
“I want to… but did You see what I did?”
(Yes… I had thrown wine on him.)
Again:
“Get up. Go home.”
So I did.
And when I walked in…
my husband said,
“I thought I was dreaming.”
And we held each other.
Not in anger.
But in peace.
God was teaching us both.
Not just truth—
but how to walk in it.
“Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come,
He will guide you into all truth…”
— John 16:13
