Continuing to Build by Faith Through the Storm

Trusting God One Step at a Time Even When the Work Feels Interrupted

Rain falling over a lakeside workshop and stone retaining walls during a storm, symbolizing faith, endurance, and trusting God through everyday life — Hope in Today Ministries
The rain came after the surrender. And sometimes God reminds us through changing weather to simply keep building by faith one day at a time.

Continuing to Build by Faith Through the Storm

Trusting God One Step at a Time Even When the Work Feels Interrupted

Hebrews 11:7

“By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark…”

Sometimes faith feels peaceful and full of clarity.

And other times, faith feels like continuing quietly when things become interrupted, uncertain, heavy, or difficult to understand.

Today while working on this teaching, everything suddenly disappeared before I could save it.

For a moment, I questioned whether I should even continue.

I doubted myself.

I wondered if maybe I had gone too far, said too much, or misunderstood what the Lord was trying to show me.

So instead of forcing my way forward, I stepped away quietly with Jesus.

When I returned later, the air had changed.

The heat had cooled.

Clouds gathered.

Then rain began to fall.

And immediately I thought about Noah.

Noah continued building by faith before the earth had ever seen rain like that before.

Day by day.

Board by board.

Step by step.

Using the material God provided as he went.

He did not fully understand everything ahead of him.

He simply obeyed God faithfully in the present.

And I realized that sometimes our walk with God looks very similar.

We do not always know:

  • where God will use our words,

  • who He may reach through our testimony,

  • or how far the seeds we plant today may travel tomorrow.

Moses also did not fully know how God would use the words being written in his lifetime.

Yet generation after generation, God continued revealing Himself through them.

I do not know exactly what Moses used to write the words God placed before him, but I know he did not have a typewriter, a computer, or the internet.

Yet God still used what was placed into his hands in his generation to help reveal His truth to generations that would follow.

In many ways, we are simply doing the same thing today through the tools available in our own time.

Not rewriting the Bible.

Not replacing the Word of God.

But planting seeds that point people back to Jesus Christ through the life, testimony, wisdom, and truth found in Him.

One generation helping another generation come to know who God is, why Jesus came, and how deeply He loves us.

So will I continue.

Not striving.

Not forcing.

Not trying to manufacture something.

Simply continuing to build what God places before me one day at a time.

Trusting Him to use it however He desires to help others come to know Jesus Christ, understand the love of God, and learn why Jesus came.

Jesus did not come calling people into empty religious performance, but into reconciliation, truth, transformation, and life through Him.

He came to reveal the Father, rescue sinners, destroy the works of darkness,

and offer eternal life through reconciliation with God.

And many times, faith is not loud.

Sometimes faith simply looks like continuing.

Continuing to pray.

Continuing to trust.

Continuing to obey.

Continuing to build quietly with God through changing weather.

Sometimes storms interrupt our plans.

Sometimes discouragement tries to convince us to stop building altogether.

But God remains faithful through every season.

And sometimes the rain itself becomes the reminder that God is still present, still working, and still faithful to finish what He begins.

Maybe someone reading this today feels weary.

Interrupted.

Discouraged.

Or uncertain about continuing forward.

Take a breath.

Spend time with Jesus.

And then continue one step at a time with the work God has placed before you today.

Because God knows how to finish what He starts.

And many times, the very storms that seem to slow us down are quietly watering the ground beneath our faith.
