Why Seek Secret Things Instead of the God Who Knows All Things?

Many people searching for answers are not evil — they are hurting, fearful, lonely, or spiritually hungry. But not every spiritual voice leads toward truth. Jesus said the Spirit of Truth would guide us into all truth.

Why Do People Seek Spiritual Answers Outside of God?

There’s a Reason People Go Looking for Answers
There’s a Reason People Seek Palm Readers
There’s a Reason People Search for Hidden Answers

Many are hurting, searching, grieving, lonely, fearful, or longing to feel seen and understood.

But spiritual hunger alone does not make every voice safe or true.

Jesus never told us to seek hidden knowledge apart from God.

He told us to abide in Him and be led by the Spirit of Truth.

Not every spiritual voice leads to freedom.

Not every feeling reveals truth.

And not every open spiritual door leads toward light.

But Jesus still sets the soul free.

This is a gentle biblical teaching on discernment, spiritual curiosity, emotional wounds, deception, truth, and the love of the Father who truly knows you.

God Does Not Hide Himself

There is a difference between seeking secret things apart from God and God revealing truth through relationship with Him.

Late in the year of 2025, during one of the hardest moments of my life, we showed up at the emergency room in faith — praying and trusting Jesus.

We were walking by faith — praying, seeking God’s wisdom, and trusting Him step by step through every decision.

After seeking God for the answers of what to do, when to go and how on everything, God gave me the insight of how to speak my faith of what I believed God told me.

We continued walking in the faith that had already been established through prayer and seeking God’s wisdom.

As we arrived, the parking attendant looked directly at me and asked:

“You came with Jesus, didn’t you?”

I remember answering:

“Yes… how did you know that?”

And he replied:

“When you pray, God shows you the secret things.”

Then he began sharing his testimony and the truth of Romans 10:10.

That moment stayed with me deeply.

Because Scripture never teaches believers to seek hidden spiritual knowledge apart from God.

But it DOES teach that God reveals truth to those who seek Him through prayer, surrender, relationship, and the Holy Spirit.

The difference matters.

One path seeks power, answers, or revelation apart from God.

The other humbly seeks God Himself.

And when we seek Him, He is faithful to guide us into truth.

The world offers countless spiritual voices, hidden answers, and counterfeit peace — but Jesus warned that deception is real and said the Spirit of Truth would guide us into all truth.

Why Seek Secret Things Instead of the God Who Knows All Things?

A gentle biblical teaching on discernment, spiritual curiosity, truth, and learning to trust the Spirit of God above every other voice.

“The secret things belong unto the Lord our God…”— Deuteronomy 29:29 (KJV)
“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth…”— John 16:13 (KJV)

There are moments in life when the human heart desperately wants answers.

Answers about:

  • pain

  • relationships

  • identity

  • fear

  • the future

  • purpose

  • loss

  • loneliness

  • healing

  • direction

And when people feel wounded, confused, afraid, or spiritually empty, humanity often begins searching for something—anything—that promises understanding, comfort, power, peace, or hidden knowledge.

But from the very beginning, humanity has wrestled with the temptation to seek answers apart from fully trusting God.

Adam hid.

Humanity sought coverings.

And people still do today.

Sometimes openly.

Sometimes subtly.

Sometimes through spiritual counterfeits.

Because the deeper issue is often not curiosity alone.

It is this:

Who are we trusting to define truth, identity, direction, peace, or righteousness?

For many people, spiritual curiosity begins innocently.

A desire to know.

A desire to understand.

A desire to feel secure.

A desire to feel connected.

A desire to know what comes next.

But when people begin seeking secret knowledge, spiritual power, hidden answers, or voices outside the authority of God, they unknowingly step into dangerous territory.

Because not every spiritual voice is from God.

And not every spiritual experience leads toward truth.

Scripture never teaches believers to seek hidden spiritual power apart from God.

It continually points us back to:

• Jesus Christ

• The Word of God

• Discernment

• Surrender

• Truth

• and the Holy Spirit.

Discernment Matters

Not every spiritual experience is the Holy Spirit.

Scripture teaches us to discern.

Sometimes we are dealing with the flesh that must be crucified.

Sometimes we are dealing with spiritual oppression that must be resisted in the authority of Jesus Christ.

And sometimes people unknowingly begin seeking answers, direction, comfort, hidden knowledge, or spiritual experiences from voices and practices God never asked us to trust.

This is why discernment matters.

Jesus never told believers to seek secret things apart from God.

He told us to abide in Him.

To know His Word.

To walk in truth.

To be led by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said:

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth…”— John 16:13 (KJV)

The Holy Spirit does not lead us away from Jesus, away from Scripture, or into spiritual confusion.

He leads us into truth.

Not fear.

Not bondage.

Not obsession.

Not counterfeit spirituality.

Truth.

As believers, we must learn the difference between:

  • crucifying the flesh

  • resisting the enemy

  • and following the Holy Spirit.

Because not every voice claiming spiritual insight is from God.

And not every open spiritual door leads toward light.

Jesus Came to Set the Soul Free

Spiritual deception is not harmless.

Jesus warned us that there is a real enemy who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy.

Scripture teaches that darkness brings bondage, confusion, fear, torment, deception, and separation from God.

Many people do not realize how deeply spiritual deception can affect the mind, emotions, choices, and soul.

Sometimes people begin seeking answers, comfort, power, hidden knowledge, or spiritual experiences without discerning what spirit is truly influencing them.

But not every spiritual influence comes from God.

The enemy works through deception.

Fear.

Confusion.

Torment.

Bondage.

Lies.

Accusation.

Condemnation.

Compulsion.

The enemy desires to keep people separated from truth, separated from peace, and ultimately separated from relationship with God.

Jesus said:

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”— John 10:10 (KJV)

Jesus did not come merely to improve behavior.

He came to set captives free.

He came to heal.

To restore.

To forgive.

To break bondage.

To bring truth and reconciliation with God.

Demons torment.

Jesus brings peace.

Demons enslave.

Jesus sets free.

Darkness deceives.

Jesus is Truth.

And this is why discernment matters so deeply.

Because not every voice speaking spiritually is leading people toward the freedom, truth, peace, and holiness of God.

Sometimes the battle is the flesh that must be crucified.

What Does It Mean to Crucify the Flesh?

To “crucify the flesh” does not mean harming ourselves physically or pretending we do not have emotions, struggles, temptations, or human desires.

Biblically, the flesh refers to the part of human nature that wants to live apart from God’s truth, wisdom, authority, or Spirit.

Sometimes the flesh wants:

  • control

  • revenge

  • lust

  • pride

  • comfort

  • selfishness

  • fear

  • emotional reactions

  • instant gratification

  • or what simply “feels right” in the moment.

To crucify the flesh means choosing surrender to God over the impulses, emotions, desires, or reactions that pull us away from truth.

Sometimes it means going against what we feel like doing.

Sometimes it means refusing to follow emotions that are not leading us toward Christ.

Sometimes it means surrendering thoughts, desires, habits, wounds, temptations, or reactions to God and choosing obedience instead.

Scripture says:

“And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”— Galatians 5:24 (KJV)

This is not about becoming emotionless.

It is about learning to let the Holy Spirit lead us instead of allowing the flesh to rule us.

That is why discernment matters so deeply.

Because not every feeling is truth.

And not every desire leads toward life.

Jesus came not only to forgive us —

but to transform us from the inside out.

Sometimes the enemy attacks through fear, temptation, oppression, deception, or confusion.

But believers are not left helpless.

Scripture teaches us to resist the enemy, stand in truth, and remain rooted in Jesus Christ.

Freedom is not found in fear or obsession with darkness.

Freedom is found in surrendering to the truth, authority, peace, and salvation of Jesus Christ.

His name is Jesus.

And without discernment, the human heart can begin believing lies simply because emotions feel real.

But feelings are not always truth.

Voices are not always truth.

Experiences are not always truth.

Jesus said the Holy Spirit would guide us into all truth.

That is why believers must stay rooted in:

  • God’s Word

  • prayer

  • surrender

  • discernment

  • and relationship with Jesus Christ

Because Jesus does not lead people deeper into confusion.

He leads them into light.

Ref: James 3

There Are Two Types of Wisdom

The Bible teaches that not every form of wisdom comes from God.

James 3 describes two very different kinds of wisdom that influence people.

One wisdom comes from above.

The other does not.

Scripture says:

“This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.”— James 3:15 (KJV)

But then it describes the wisdom that truly comes from God:

“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”— James 3:17 (KJV)

That difference matters deeply.

The word “pure” speaks deeply to me because wisdom that truly comes from God does not leave us double-minded about surrendering to His truth and allowing Him to change our heart and mind.

The Spirit of the living God has taught me that wisdom which is truly pure does not pull us away from God or leave us double-minded about surrendering to His truth and allowing Him to change our heart and mind.

What Does It Mean to Be Double-Minded?

To be double-minded means to be divided within ourselves

— pulled between truth and feelings, surrender and fear, flesh and Spirit, trusting God and trusting our own understanding.

The human mind apart from truly knowing God can become unstable, fearful, confused, emotional, prideful, or easily led astray.

But the Holy Spirit leads believers toward the mind of Christ.

Scripture says:

“But we have the mind of Christ.”— 1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV)

The more we surrender to God, the more our thinking begins to align with His truth instead of being ruled by fear, emotions, deception, pride, or the desires of the flesh.

This is why discernment matters so deeply.

God is not trying to confuse us.

The Spirit of Truth leads us into clarity, wisdom, peace, conviction, and transformation through Jesus Christ.

Not everything spiritual is holy.

What Does Holy Mean?

Holy means “set apart from the world and unto God.”

Not everything mysterious is from God.

And, God does work in mysterious ways.

And not every voice offering guidance is leading people toward truth, peace, purity, freedom, or Jesus Christ.

This is why discernment matters.

I do not follow signs and wonders, but I believe signs and wonders follow the truth, power, and righteousness of God.

The Key Point:

The Spirit of Truth will never lead people away from the Word of God, the character of Christ, or the peace and wisdom that come from above.

Jesus Did Not Come to Leave Us in Fear

Many emotional struggles people carry are deeply connected to fear, rejection, abandonment, loneliness, broken relationships, broken families, wounds, and feeling unseen or unloved.

And when the soul is wounded, people often begin searching desperately for comfort, answers, identity, peace, or connection.

Sometimes they search in places God never intended them to go.

But Scripture says:

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”— 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

Fear does not come from God.

Torment does not come from God.

Confusion does not come from God.

Jesus came to bring truth, peace, healing, freedom, and reconciliation with the Father.

Many people carry emotional wounds so deep that they begin believing lies about themselves:

  • nobody wants me

  • I am unloved

  • I am unwanted

  • I will always be alone

  • something is wrong with me

  • I will never be free

But Jesus speaks something different.

Jesus reveals the love of the Father.

He reminds us that we were created by God, known by God, and deeply loved by God.

The enemy desires to isolate, accuse, condemn, torment, and separate people from truth.

But Jesus came to restore relationship with our Creator and Father God.

Jesus really loves you.

Not a shallow religious version of love.

Real love.

The kind of love that:

  • pursues

  • forgives

  • heals

  • corrects

  • restores

  • protects

  • delivers

  • and lays down His life to save.

That is why truth matters.

Because God is not trying to take something good away from people.

He is trying to protect hearts from deception and lead them into real freedom.

And real freedom is found in Jesus Christ.

“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”— Isaiah 8:20 (KJV)

Not every voice is from God.

Not every spiritual path leads toward truth.

And not every open door should be entered.

The world encourages people to:

  • follow feelings

  • trust intuition blindly

  • seek signs

  • seek hidden wisdom

  • seek spiritual power

  • seek experiences apart from God

But Scripture teaches believers to test everything by the Word of God.

Because truth is not found in spiritual counterfeits.

Truth is found in Jesus Christ.

Maybe someone reading this today has been searching for answers in places that left them more fearful, confused, exhausted, or spiritually unsettled.

Maybe someone has been tormented by fear, darkness, confusion, or oppression and did not realize how real the spiritual battle truly is.

But Jesus Christ still sets people free.

He still heals.

He still restores.

He still delivers.

And He still calls people out of darkness into His marvelous light.

The answer is not deeper deception.

The answer is deeper surrender to truth.
