A personal Christian testimony about grief, healing, eternity, and learning to trust Jesus Christ after the loss of a loved one.
In this heartfelt drive-home reflection, Karen shares what God taught her after the passing of her husband, Rob — including peace during loss, healing through surrender, and the hope found in eternal life through Jesus Christ.
This encouragement speaks honestly about grief, love, healing, and the process of learning to let go of what we cannot hold onto while discovering that God truly is enough to carry us forward.
One of the reflections shared in this testimony is:
“Maybe death is not what we fear it is at all…
Maybe it’s simply stepping through the shadow into the Light.”
One of the unexpected things God taught me after Rob went home to be with the Lord was how to love without selfishness.
When someone you deeply love transitions into eternity, part of the grief is learning how to release what you can no longer physically hold onto — while still understanding that love itself does not end.
And honestly, one of the hardest things for me to learn was this:
I had to learn how to share.
Not only the memories…
not only the love…
but even the time and relationship we once shared so closely here on earth.
I began realizing that family in Christ is not divided the way the world often teaches us to live. In God, there is no competition for love, no striving for position, no separation in the way we fear it.
There is only love.
The same love here.
The same love there.
And part of healing was learning that eternal life is not merely about “going to Heaven someday,” but beginning even now to know God and to know His Son Jesus Christ — and learning how to love more freely through Him.
I realized that holding too tightly to grief, fear, or exclusivity can sometimes keep us from fully receiving the peace and love God is trying to teach us.
God began showing me that real love does not divide.
Real love multiplies.
And when we learn to love through Christ, we slowly begin understanding that eternity is not separation for those who belong to Him.
It is family fulfilled in Him.
That understanding helped bring healing to my soul.
And I pray if you are grieving, struggling, afraid, or learning how to move forward after loss, that this testimony helps you see more clearly the hope, peace, and eternal love found through Jesus Christ.
