Changing Gears With God
Shared from a real season of transition, growth, and learning to walk forward with God one step at a time. If God helped me continue moving forward, I believe He can help you too.
Sometimes changing gears is not about going backward
— it is about learning how to move forward with God through a new season.
This peaceful video reflection uses the illustration of changing gears in a manual transmission to encourage spiritual growth, trust, peace, and learning to move with God one step at a time.

Romans 8:6 | Spiritually Minded Is Life and Peace
An Encouragement for Seasons of Transition, Trust, and Spiritual Growth
Shared from a real season of transition, growth, and learning to walk forward with God one step at a time. If God helped me continue moving forward, I believe He can help you too.
Sometimes I get stuck in transition, and I like to refer to it as “time to change gears.”
We are not truly stuck —
we just feel the place we are in and recognize something is shifting.
Many times, I do not fully know what that next shift is supposed to look like. But what I have learned is that doing something good, productive, peaceful, and necessary helps me move forward instead of remaining emotionally stalled.
And in case I forget to say it clearly enough — so does reading God’s Word every day.
Sometimes the wisest thing we can do is pause long enough not to run ahead of God emotionally, mentally, or spiritually.
I know that feeling.
It is the feeling of wanting to move forward while also recognizing that all of our being is continually catching up to all God is and all He is teaching us.
And honestly, we will never supersede God.
I would not even want to if I could — because God is God.
The reason I am sharing this today is because this song fits my life in a very real way.
When I feel overwhelmed — God’s Word helps.
When I feel uncertain — looking to God helps.
And when I think these things sound too simple, I remember that nothing feels simple until understanding comes.
Life is a lot like driving a standard transmission.
I am personally grateful I learned how to drive one, because changing gears keeps us engaged with the power moving us forward.
And spiritually, I believe it is very similar when we seek more of God while feeling less than ourselves.
That is actually good news.
Because sometimes we feel lower than God ever intended us to live.
But God lifts us when we read His Word, pray, surrender, and continue walking with Him.
I cannot fully explain it, but something shifts in my soul when I simply decide to “change gears” with God and move forward in peace.
So today’s encouragement is as much for me as it is for you.
“This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
We do not fix our eyes on adversity alone.
We look at what the Lord is doing in our lives.
Day by day.
Night by night.
Morning by morning.
Hour by hour.
God is with us.
Sometimes we must intentionally remind ourselves of that truth.
You may not visibly see Him.
Others may not visibly see Him.
But God is still working within us and through us.
Maybe this is simply your season to change gears with God.
Read His Word.
Pray.
Learn His love.
Spend time with Jesus.
And remember:
Your destiny is not what you are currently looking at.
Your destiny is where God is leading you.
Just take one step at a time.
Breathe.
Look to Jesus.
And trust Him enough to move when it is time to change gears.
I hope this encourages your heart today.
There is no greater love than the love God offers through His Son Jesus Christ.
