Before the Thunder
When God’s Power Moves Through You

God often moves before we ever see the result.”
Before We Begin
We don’t always see the results of our obedience.
Sometimes, all we know is that God moved—
and it passed through us like lightning.
📖 A Moment in Scripture
In Luke 8:45–46,
a woman pressed through the crowd
to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment.
He stopped and said:
“Who touched Me?”
The disciples didn’t understand—
people were pressing in on every side.
But Jesus said:
“Someone hath touched Me:
for I perceive that virtue is gone out of Me.”
He felt the power—
but He did not yet know the face.
⚡ A Picture of How God Moves
This is what it can be like
to be a vessel of God’s Light.
You may not know who is receiving it.
You may not know when or how the Spirit will use it.
But when you stay close to Jesus,
His power flows through you—
sometimes before you ever know who it’s for.
⚡ Like Lightning Before Thunder
In nature, lightning comes before thunder.
The light is seen before the sound is heard.
Because light travels faster than sound.
That is often how God works in the Spirit.
His power moves—
quick, quiet, and unseen at first—
and the evidence follows.
Sometimes later.
Sometimes unseen by you.
But the impact remains.
Just because you don’t hear the thunder
doesn’t mean the Light didn’t flash.
🌿 When the Light Is Enough
Sometimes we feel responsible
to make something happen.
But salvation belongs to the Lord.
Only His Spirit draws a heart.
Only His Light changes a life.
Even in doing good, Scripture says:
“Let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth.”
— Matthew 6:3
Why?
Because the power is not in being seen—
the power is in being available.
A Truth to Hold
You don’t need to see the outcome to be faithful.
You need to stay connected to the Source.
And when you abide in Him—
His power moves through your life
in ways you may never fully see.
Whispered Prayer
Lord,
Help me to trust what I cannot see.
When Your Spirit moves through me,
teach me not to strive for results—
but to remain close to You.
Let my life be available to Your Light.
And remind me that even unseen obedience
has eternal impact.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflect
Have you ever felt like something God did through you…
but you didn’t see the result?
Where might God be asking you to trust
what He is doing beyond what you can see?
