Devotion

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” “Love always hopes, always believes, always perseveres.” — John 1:5 & 1 Corinthians 13:7 When your heart still hopes — even when theirs doesn’t… Let the light in you shine anyway.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” “Love always hopes, always believes, always perseveres.” — John 1:5 & 1 Corinthians 13:7 When your heart still hopes — even when theirs doesn’t… Let the light in you shine anyway.

Scripture:

“Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

1 Corinthians 13:7 (NIV)

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

John 1:5 (NIV)

Reflection:

Sometimes, I find myself hoping for others more than they seem to hope for themselves. I love them with a longing for them to see the beauty of Jesus — to come out of hiding and step into the light of His love. I pray. I believe. I surrender. I face pain and ask Jesus to heal me — and I do the heart work. But some… don’t.

They don’t want to hope.

They don’t believe this love exists.

And some — heartbreakingly — run from the very light that would heal them.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”John 1:5

That’s the ache of carrying God’s heart. When we’ve surrendered all, He fills us with a love so big, it overflows. We see people through His eyes — not for who they’ve become, but for who He created them to be. And yet… it’s not always received.

This is where I’m learning: Love still hopes. Not because I want to fix anyone — but because God hasn’t given up on them. Even when I feel like I love them more than they love themselves, the truth is — that’s His love in me.

And when my heart breaks for their blindness, it brings me right back to surrender.

To trust.

To prayer.

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.”Isaiah 60:1 (NIV)

Prayer is the foundation. It’s where my will ends and God’s begins. It’s where I say:

“Lord, use me — not to be seen, but to shine. Not to be known, but to reflect Your heart. Even if they never come.”

Because the love in me doesn’t come from me. It comes from the Cross.

And that kind of love… still hopes.

Still believes.

Still waits at the door.

“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come.’”Revelation 22:17a (NIV)

Prayer:

Jesus, I lay down the ache of loving others more than they love themselves. You did that first — and You never stopped. Teach me to pray from a place of surrender, not striving. Keep my heart tender, but guarded by truth. You are the One who saves. You are the One who draws hearts. Let Your love in me never grow bitter or cold, even when it hurts. And thank You for letting me feel even a portion of how deeply You love them — and me.

Amen.

Come back soon:

Keep walking in love — even when it costs you everything but Jesus.

My newest teaching video is now live on YouTube.

It’s raw, it’s real — and it’s prayerfully meant for someone God has on His heart today.

As I shared this new teaching, I was reminded of something the Lord has shown me over time: faith grows, but it remains the same faith.

The Freedoms in Christ: How Jesus Sets the Soul Free series reflects my current season of teaching — but along the way, the Lord gently led me to include two earlier videos created before this website ever existed.

One was recorded in 2015–2016, when I was first stepping out in faith, simply obeying and learning to trust God, day by day.

The other was shared a few years ago, during a season when the Lord was healing me and freeing me from pain that tried to turn loneliness into bondage.

Looking back, I see now: they were never separate stories — they were part of the same journey of faith, growth, and freedom in Christ.

Just like the parable Jesus shared:

“Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?”
— Luke 15:8

Nothing God works through is ever lost — sometimes it’s simply waiting for the right time to be seen again.

Maybe you feel that way too: overlooked, out of season, or unsure where you belong.

But hear this:
You are not lost to God.
And if you seek Him, you will find Him.
