Moving Dirt — Learning to Trust the Teacher

Have you ever been asked to do something that completely terrified you?

I thought I was learning to drive a skid steer and move dirt. Instead, Christ was teaching me to trust my Teacher.

Through an ordinary day operating heavy equipment, Jesus revealed how He patiently teaches us one instruction at a time. As I learned to trust my son, I began to understand more deeply what it means to trust Christ.

This lesson also includes a personal testimony of the first time God taught me to truly trust Him. It became a turning point in my relationship with Him and reminded me that peace isn't found by understanding everything.

Episode 3: Moving Dirt — Learning to Walk with Jesus. Karen shares how learning to operate a skid steer with her son became a lesson in trusting Christ as our Teacher.

"O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."

Psalm 34:3–4 (KJV)

Sometimes we think we're learning a new skill, when Christ is really teaching us to trust the Teacher. As we learn to follow His instruction, He moves fear, doubt, and hesitation out of the way so we can walk confidently with Him.

I thought I was learning to operate a skid steer and move dirt. Instead, Jesus was teaching me to trust my Teacher.

As my son patiently guided me through every instruction, I realized how often Christ does the same with us. He doesn't expect us to know everything before we begin. He simply asks us to trust Him enough to take the next step.

Fear kept me from moving forward until I learned to trust the one who knew more than I did. The more I trusted my teacher, the more confidence replaced fear.

I also share the first time God taught me to truly trust Him during one of the hardest seasons of my life. That moment became the beginning of a deeper relationship with Him.

Learning to walk with Jesus isn't about becoming fearless. It's about learning to trust the One who is faithful.

Sometimes the greatest work Christ does isn't moving the dirt in front of us—it's moving fear out of our hearts as we learn to trust our Teacher.
